SURREY SANDS

Surrey Sands, the Stillbirth & Neonatal Death Charity
The Surrey group of the Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Charity is an autonomous self funded group run by bereaved parents for bereaved parents. The charity is represented by volunteers and their work and support services are funded entirely by donations.

Surrey Sands offers support services to 7 hospitals and to bereaved families living in Surrey or the surrounding boarders. Their work starts with the provision of bereavement facilities within the hospitals, training of healthcare professionals to improve the care and understanding needed at the time of bereavement on to long term after care once parents leave hospital.

The services of Surrey Sands are to support those who have suffered a late miscarriage (18 to 24 weeks), stillbirth (24 weeks plus) or a neonatal death (a baby who has died within the first few weeks of its life)

Babyloss is a life changing experience the impact of which is rarely understood by those who have not been through it. Sands offers empathic support to parents from any stage in their grief journey from the point of being given the devastating news prior to babies birth through to many years after their loss. “We know how it feels to be a bereaved parent and the life long path of grief we all tread, and we would like to help you through this traumatic time with support and understanding”.
